Skyllon's Secondary Magic Training

 

Soon, Brennan arrived at downtown Rose Garden, and it was just as exuberant as it had been a couple hours ago, thieves and master mages demonstrating their magical abilities. Everything from making something sparkle to turning objects into stone was present, Brennan suspected that some of these mages could be extremely dangerous if they actually put their minds to casting magic instead of just half-assed pick-pocketing tricks. He paced through the Rose Garden, staring intently at the blue screen next to his face, he had almost arrived at one of the inns. Daichi's Inn. Finally. Brennan walked into the inn, prepared to be stared at quizzically, like everyone else, this man probably would not expect to see a nine year old. Once Brennan walked in, however, this man's reaction was quite the opposite of the woman who owned the other inn. "Hey there." Was all he said, "You lookin' for a room, my dear man?" Brennan nodded, "Yeah. Something on the top floor would be of preference, my good man." The man nodded and bent down, rummaging through some keys. "Here ya go." He said, tossing the keys at Brennan, who caught them with ease. "Free 'o charge." He said smoothly with a slight wink. "Thank you." Brennan said with a smile, quickly jogging up the stairs.

Brennan slipped the key into the door, and twisted it before withdrawing it. He turned the brass door. The room was fairly large, but wasn't nearly a large as the room in the previous inn he had stayed at. Oh well, you win some, you lose some. This room was fairly cramped, with a bed, TV, and a couch all cramped into one area. Brennan took off all of his gear and placed it onto the bed. He hopped onto the couch and closed his eyes with a sigh, how much longer would he have to stay on the run?

Brennan yawned, he found himself rather tired after this recent ordeal. He shook his head and sighed, shoving all of his gear onto the couch and crawling into the bed. It was rather cozy, so the thin framed bboy soon fell asleep, slipping out of consciousness faster than he could even resister.

The dream. Again. Brennan was running through downtown Rose Garden, only to find a silver haired man following him. No, Brennan thought to himself, No. He screamed in his head, and Excalibur, which seemed to have appeared from nowhere, stabbed Albert straight in the chest. The man, however, just licked his lips, and ripped Excalibur out of his own chest, hurtling it straight at Brennan. Brennan was unable to stop Excalibur, even though it should have frozen at his command, but all he could do was watch as the spear skewered him. The second it hit, Brennan awoke, panting. He was in a cold sweat, that had been the most terrifying nightmare he had experienced in weeks.

But it wasn't a nightmare. Albert Skyllon and his silver hair stood above Brennan, licking his lips. "Well, well, look who it is." The man snickered, and a wicked grin covered his face. Brennan did not know what to do, he had to escape. Excalibur. He didn't move an inch, but the spear started floating, and skewered his father's neck. The man would be incapacitated for only a second, so Brennan had to run. He rolled out of the way and snatched his swords, his cane, and A.I.R.C.. He then proceeded to smash through a window, and a hand of sand rose up from the ground and caught Brennan, placing him gently on the ground. The second that Brennan touched the ground, he ran, A.I.R.C. on his shoulder, until he remembered that he could fly. The boy quickly rose from the ground, and flew through the sky, trying his best to get away from his father.

Brennan flew, and flew, and flew, desperately trying to get away from his father, but he couldn't, the man was much faster than him, so by now, he had already healed, and had already caught up to Brennan. That meant that Excalibur was free as well, so Brennan called the weapon towards him, and it came. "Excalibur..." He said, flicking his wrist, "Multiply." As both of them ran, Excalibur began to spin, and spin, and spin, until it disappeared, and was replaced with thousands of kunai. They flew towards Albert, each one penetrating him time and time again, but yet, the man still breathed. Brennan sighed, why wouldn't this man just die?! He didn't want to have to run forver, but that seemed to be his only choice... because apparently, his father was immortal, that was just his luck. But no one could be immortal... there had to be some way for this man to die.

It was then that Albert decided to fight back. He spun around in a circle, bringing up a gust of wind, causing the kunai that made up Excalibur to fly away. Albert than jumped up into the air, and a leg charged up with shadow energy smashed into Brennan's chest, sending him flying into the nearest building. "Goddamn!" He yelled as he picked himself up, "That hurt quite a bit..." Then, suddenly, Excalibur reformed into a spear, and speared Albert straight in the chest. But Albert just chuckled, "My dear son, have you not discovered that spearing me does not injure me? Brennan grimaced as his father ripped Excalibur out of his chest and snapped it in half. "How are you going to fight me without your weapon, my dear little boy?" Brennan shook his head, "It seems, my dear father, that you always forget about my God Slaying abilities."

A pistol made of black sand appeared in Brennan's hand, and it glowed, along with his hands. "Magical Bullet!" He yelled, and a bullet made of black sand exploded from the pistol, homing onto Albert's chest. The bullet glowed as it pierced Albert's chest, making a sickening ripping sound. For some reason, the man seemed to react to this, and collapsed to the ground, screaming and writhing in pain. Brennan raised his eyebrows and lowered himself down to the ground. He poked his father, who just kept writhing in pain, and shrugged to him, floating once again, and flying away at top speed.

He knew his father wouldn't die, but at least Brennan had found a way to affect him, and that would make things a hell of a lot easier. Excalibur followed Brennan as he flew, and the boy was now in an excessively cheery mood. He hummed to himself as he flew, nowhere in particular, just... somewhere. Why not enjoy Rose Garden now that he was here? Brennan thought he might as well, as he left himself drift down to the ground, and looked around, even in the broad daylight, there were still many festivities to be found in the Rose Garden, many mages showing off their skills.

Brennan stared at a man who turned his arm into a leg, which was pretty interesting, Brennan identified it as Body Transformation Magic. A magic very similar to Takeover, it was very amusing to watch, but Brennan could not think of many viable applications when they were in a battle, or at war. He shrugged to himself, and walked away, there was much more to see, maybe he would stay overnight, or maybe he wouldn't. It would all depend on how he felt, now that his father was gone. Well, not gone, but at least now Brennan had a way to defend himself.

So much to do... Brennan didn't know what to do first. Akio's Sushi. Brennan quite liked sushi... he supposed he could go there. Brennan pushed the wooden door in and glanced around, it was decorated nicely, lots and lots of gold. A man greeted Brennan, "Welcome!" He glanced around, looking for Brennan's parents. "I'm not nine." The boy chimed in, "I'm here alone, could I please have a table?" The man was surprised to find out that Brennan wasn't as old as he looked, but obliged, and started walking, beckoning for the boy to follow him, "This way, sir." Brennan nodded, and followed the man, anxious to get his hands on some sushi. The man lead Brennan to a small chair, where Brennan sat, awaiting his sushi. A chef approached him, disregarding the fact that he looked like he was nine years old, and said, "I am very sorry, sir, but we are out of everything, except for Futomaki Sushi." Brennan smiled, "That's okay, I just need some sushi." THe man nodded, and proceeded to make the sushi... with his mind? He was using some sort of telekinesis, which was a pretty impressive display, since he managed to make the sushi with perfect accuracy.

Brennan clapped, "Very amazing display!" He said with a rather broad smile. The man bowed, and the sushi flew onto a plate in front of Brennan. Brennan grabbed the sleek silver chopsticks sitting at his side and bit into the sushi. It was stellar! Better than anything Brennan had ever tasted! And the best part? The best part was that he was finally able to enjoy his life without worrying about his father brutally murdering him and everyone he cared about. Brennan greedily, yet slowly, ate his sushi, savoring each piece like was to be his last. After this, he knew that he had to get home, to the Laughing Coffin guild hall.
