Tad was in Sakuramori for a job, but he'd finished it and got bored so he'd signed up for another one. While the first one was thinning an oversized herd of oversized moose, this one involved a predator. It would seem that this predator didn't like moose meat. Survivors of the creature's attacks described it as having red eyes, being nearly twelve feet tall and claws as sharp as machetes. Tad wasn't terribly confident in the descriptions, but having heard from a few people, the consensus was that it was a very large bear. Tad's job was to kill the bear, something he wasn't too concerned with as it had already hurt, maimed, and killed quite a few civilians.

Feeling the forest's odd aura again as he entered it, Tad removed one of his daggers and tossed it out of the forest. This was like a save point, which would allow Tad to return out of the forest whenever he needed. He began heading along the road, the reports were clear that the bear had been attacking along the road so Tad decided to start there. He headed to the place of the most recent attack and looked for clues, mostly he looked for tracks or droppings or signs that read "people killing bear To Catch a Predator 1f449". The side of the road still had markings of a clash of some sort, though Tad found nothing indicating which direction to head to look for a person-eating bear.

He used the same trick as his last job, utilizing his Cumberbund's ability, and ran up a tree. At the top, he looked around, hoping to see a bear lumbering through the trees. Not being so lucky, Tad did notice what might be an entrance to a cave not too far away. Leaping to another tree, Tad moved toward the cave. Now what? he wondered to himself as he moved to a tree nearest the cave. Not like I can just wander into that cave. Even with my lightning, I may not be able to see well enough to avoid a giant bear's giant paw lined with giant claws.

He rushed down the tree, before landing and moving to a position to stare into the cave. An idea had formed in his mind, so he grabbed a large tree branch which had been laying on the ground, its tip had a bunch of dried leaves. He then used his Blazer's ability to create a wall of fire around him. Tad then allowed the fire to catch the leaves on fire before canceling the ability. He took the makeshift torch and tossed it into the cave. He hoped the fire might scare the bear out, or, if nothing else, the smoke might force the creature out of the cave. Some high pitched noises could be heard as about twenty bats came flying out of the cave directly towards Tad. Naturally, Tad wasn't pleased and jumped in fright; he'd been expecting a large, hopefully slow, bear to come out of the cave, not a swarm of bats.

That was when Tad's luck turned around. A female's scream for help could be heard in the direction of the road. Tad turned and, like lightning, bolted through the forest until he came to a sliding stop at the road. There, about 30 yards in front of him, was a horse and cart with a woman holding the reins. About 35 yards from him was a bear, nearly 10 feet tall, standing on its hind legs. The bear seemed to be posturing to scare the horse that had been facing that direction. The horse, naturally, was terrified and wanted to run off, but the cart seemed to be stuck in a rut on the side of the road, acting like an anchor to the horse.

The bear moved forward, its barrel sized paws about ready to smash the horse's head. Tad had no choice but to intervene; the lightning mage fired a bolt of black lightning at the bear's chest. The bolt hit him square in the chest, but the damage didn't seem to phase the animal in the least bit. Tad didn't have a more powerful spell to utilize so he just kept firing bolts of lightning at the bear as he moved towards it. He hoped that his attacks would, if nothing else, pull the bear's attention away from the woman who was driving the cart.

After the third bolt hit the bear's chest, it dropped down to two legs and rushed at Tad. The two were now rushing at each other and Tad was sure a collision would be much more painful for himself than for the bear. Sending lightning to his foot, Tad stomped the ground while also stopping himself and his forward momentum. In front of him, a row of black lightning spikes erupted from the earth. One of them hit the bears front leg, piercing it and drawing blood. The attack and subsequent pain caused the running bear to stumble and fall in the ground. Tad readied more lightning in his palm and rushed towards the creature. He got right over its face and fired two more bolts of lightning at the downed animal. This time he was aiming at the creature's face, hoping its hide and durability wouldn't be able to withstand the attack at such close range.

His attack was a success as both bolts pierced through the creature's skull, killing it near instantly. Tad once again allowed himself to breathe, though he hadn't realized he'd been holding his breath. The adrenaline that flowed through his veins also began to dissipate and Tad felt his shoulders slump in relaxation. Tad hadn't realized how amped up he was, but now that he was coming down, it was becoming more apparent. He made sure the woman was alright and got her back onto the path. Tad then went back to the dead bear, looking it over before taking a piece as a trophy, before teleporting himself to his dagger. The lanky mage would then head back to the town to get his payment for a job well done.
