    -Hargeon Town, 10:00 A.M.-

Dressed in a white t-shirt with olive green cargo pants and black boots, Leonidas did everything he could to not stand out in the line of forty people he stood in waiting to get a passport. Unfortunately for him he was tall, muscular, had shoulder-length blond hair, and had a scarred face, so blending in was not going to be easy for him. Fortunately for the tall blond man everyone was more focused on enduring the wait to get a passport than scrutinizing him. Speaking of the wait, the line was moving at a pace so slow that glaciers could melt faster than the line moved, but Leonidas had to wait his turn like everyone else. He had a very good reason to patiently wait his turn instead of trying to cut in line by deception or by force and risking getting in trouble.

Leonidas had staked everything on moving to Fiore. He had wanted his mother Sophia to travel with him, but by the time all the expenses were tallied up only one of the Jarnefeldts could afford to travel out of Desierto. His mother had insisted that he be the one to go, so travel Leonidas did. When he got to Fiore after a long journey he had exchanged all his currency from Desierto for Jewels, then spent virtually every Jewel of his money on securing a small home for himself in Capital Crocus and buying a few decent outfits to wear. Now he found himself in dire need of money, money to support himself in Fiore and money to realize one of his goals.

One day Leonidas wanted to bring his mother out of the harsh land of Desierto and help her settle into a peaceful life in Fiore, but due to numerous factors like his lack of money and the current international situation that plan would take some time to make a reality. He was going to do some freelance mage work, save up his money, get a better house for himself, save up more money, and when the stars finally aligned one day bring Sophia Jarnefeldt to Fiore. That goal was going to take a long time to accomplish, but Leonidas could not turn back now. He was going to build a new life for himself no matter how hard he had to work.

If his younger sister Leona could move from Desierto to Fiore and prosper, so could he.

The line moved up two spaces and Leonidas quickly moved with it so that no one behind him could complain about him holding things up. He was now the thirty-eighth person in line. He wondered how much longer he had to wait before he could get a passport, but it did not matter. He had risked everything on the move to this country and was not going to walk away from Hargeon Town without a passport. He had to do this.

    -Five hours later-

After a grueling three-hour wait that had taxed his patience almost to its limit and an exhaustive two-hour process involving a lot of paperwork, a lot of questions, and a detailed rundown of the rules and regulations that governed the usage of a passport, Leonidas emerged from the office with a brand new passport clutched firmly in his right hand. He had what he came for, so he was going to head back to Capital Crocus and spend the rest of the day in his tiny apartment. Tomorrow morning he was going to start looking for work so that he could start making Jewels and building a new life for himself away from the sands of Desierto.
