Mercenaries (Alleria and Zennoch)

Zennoch approached the castle with people's eyes on him as always and looked up in awe as he took a drink of wine. He was on a mission to protect a politician of some sort, but he needed to be descreet. Zennoch approached a guard and showed him the job slip, the guard quickly led him around the back where he would go up a secret enterence. "Wait." Zennoch Claimed, "I need to wait for my partner, you go back to the front and look for her. I will stay here in the back until she gets here." The guard began to speak back, "Sir, the Lord's life is in danger. This is a matter of haste. Please proceed up..." Zennoch cut him off, "Shut up HUMAN!!!" He leaned over the top of the guard, "GO! NOW!" The guard didn't listen to him at first which prompted Zennoch to repeat himself, "GO! NOW! DO NOT MAKE ME TELL YOU AGAIN..."The guard ran off to look for Zennoch's partner.

Zennoch waited patiently with nothing but a large feast and a ton of alcohol. He devoured twelve sandwiches, two apples, five biscuits, one orange, sixteen beef sticks, four cotton candy flavored ice cream bars, and six bottles of wine. He smiled in content as he felt the breeze run through his euphorically tingling body. "Never gets old. Oh the food and the booze never gets old in the slightest. TO FOOD AND BOOZE!!!" He raised his wine bottle in a toast and with a smile began to chug it down. "I cant imagine doing a job sober... That just seems wrong." Zennoch wondered how he got by in his younger years without booze; then he realized he started drinking around the time he learned to read. "Wow, 16 years of drinking... Thats what I call a good life."

Alleria stood by the castle's front gate's. This was supposedly their rendezvous point. Out of sheer boredom, Alleria had decided to take a mission just to pass the time. Of course she didn't take it as Alleria Kusanagi, but as her alter ego Arya Stormborne, she was still after all wanted by the council and the rune knights. She could have handled it too by herself, but the requirements explicitly stated as least two. So she had no choice but to find the nearest person she could fine. Unfortunately for her it had to be Zennoch. A mysterious fellow, he doesn't even look human, but she can't be picky so she struck a deal with him. She was busy with her thoughts when a man dressed in a blue suit approached her.

"Excuse me, but are you one of the mages hired to secretly protect Mr. Strauss?" the man said with a hint of uncertainty in his voice.

"Yes I am. Have you by any chance seen my partner? We were suppose to meet here minutes ago." Alleria said a bit irritated.

The man's face lighted up "Yes, as a matter of fact he sent me to escort you inside."

She was about to walk in when the guard stopped her.

"Sorry but its protocol, I have to check you for deadly weapons." the man said impishly.

"You mean frisk me? Of course I'll have deadly weapons hidden, Im working as a bodyguard." she said a bit conflicted.

"We can speed this up if you just show me. I mean your weapons." the man said blushing.

"Fine." grunted Alleria and began disarming herself.

After frisking her. The guard took her to where her partner was.

Zennoch wanted to get this job over quickly so that he could get the money to buy his booze. He looked over his shoulder and saw the guard with his partner, a young woman...I've never been on a job without a woman as my partner. He stood up to tower over her and then greeted her as any human would greet another of their kind, "Hello human, I am Zennoch and I suppose that we will be teaming up for this mission." Zennoch gave a stout face, "There, Ive introduced myself so we should skip any further pleasantries after you tell me your name." Zennoch took a drink of wine and looked down on the woman. She seemed different from anyone he had ever done a job with. Her aura was darker and stronger as if she walked around with a larger and darker shadow than other mages.

The pair accompanied by some guards walked inside and looked around to find nothing important. "Perhaps we should cover the balconies...Assassins are well trained in infiltration and that is the first option they will exploit especially within such a large building as this. Also we need to lock the front door...If the assassins are smart then perhaps they would expect us to not expect them to come through the front. Just because there are guards there doesnt mean they cant perform an expert entry; all it takes is two quick assassinations and the pushing of a large door... Next thing is we need to figure out how many guards we have at our disposal, and dont give me that WE HIRED YOU TO PROTECT THE LORD SHIT. This is a team effort."

"Hello human, I am Zennoch and I suppose that we will be teaming up for this mission."

That confirmed whatever doubts she had of Zennoch's humanity. "Yep definitely not human."

Alleria gave him a smile and a polite response. "Hello I am Arya Stormborne. And I guess we are. I hope things would go smoothly for us. I have past experiences where my partners either would suddenly disappear or drops down dead." She paused a little before she finally burst out giggling. "Just kidding, I'm just messing with you."

After the pleasantries he led her into the next room and immediately proceeded discussing "the plan" with her. As she assessed the room, she agreed with his partners ideas. The balcony would give them a good better view of the surrounding. And if intruders where to force their way in, they can just drop down and stop them in their tracks. Then she remembered a clause stipulated in the job order. Seeing as to how my husband is too “dignified” to ask for help, I would like you to guard him secretly. Those brightly penned words were etched into her mind. How can they effectively do their job if they can't be seen by him. She raised her hand and voiced out her mind.

"Question. How do you suppose we protect him? If you remember, Madam Strauss said we have to do it discretely. Which means we have to prevent the assailants from even getting inside the castle grounds, that way Mr. Strauss can deliver his speech or toast or what ever it is he has to do without ever knowing."

"Theres a simple solution to this...We just knock him out, kill all the assassins, and when he wakes up tell him that the assassins knocked him out and that they've been dealt with." Zennoch chuckled,"However while he is out, we should have a pair of guards at the front of the locked door. This will give the illusion that palace guards are guarding the lord, and not hired mages... Assassins with their pride in their skills wont be able to resist dealing with the guards; they will think we'll be underestimating their skills and in the meantime the two of us will ambush them. We will also have a small group of elite soldiers in the Lord's bed chambers with his unconscious body. With this plan we have and ambush and two lines of defense, but nonetheless I would like the balconies to be covered. And after the ambush, we must proceed directly into the bed chambers with the elite guardsmen because by then the assassins will have assessed the initial tactic. They will have no other choice but to engage us in open combat which we will win." Zennoch took a swig of booze and looked at the head of security who most likely was wondering if he should listen to the mage that drinks on the job. Zennoch glared down at him and thrusted the blunt end of his spear into the into the shiny linoleum floor causing the guard to jump. "Get the preperations ready now!!!" This was Zennoch's mission and it would be done his way. If they wanted their lord to make it through the night they would listen to what he had to say, else he abandon them and leave the lord to his fate.

"My, my. You can never really judge a book by its cover."Alleria was astonished by her partner's explanation. Sure it was a bit rough and crude, but it will undoubtedly get the job done without much complications. Also with him unconscious, they can be sure that he won't be going anywhere. It bugs her when the people she was suppose to protect goes running out of the designated safe area all because the big bad assassin kicked the door down or because he or she had heard the scream of a love one calling for help. Thankfully Mrs. Strauss isn't here, so one less person to protect. "That is a brilliant idea. I wonder why I never thought of that." she said to her colleague.

She then turned to the politician's attendant and said "Can you get at least two of your buddies to come here and pose by the door outside. Oh and make sure they look menacing and tough, assassins like that very much." The man in black suit did as he was told and went to fetch two more guards. With him gone, she now turned her attention towards Zennoch. "Im not expecting this to be an easy mission, it had been months since I fought so don't expect much help from me. Though from your form, I am sure you can hold your own." she said as if inspiring him or something. The problem was not really not being able to practice her magic much, but if she can control herself. Exerting too much power might put her back on the radar, this wasn't a far off place, this was the royal palace, and its easy to tick off their radar.

There she goes over thinking things again, she pulled out a coin from her pocket then said "Now, who do you reckon would knock out the good politician. We can let fate decide, that is if you dont mind." Alleria toyed with the shiny silver coin while she awaited for her partner's reply.

Zennoch didnt wait for the coin to land in his partner's hand. He kicked open the door to the Lord's bed room and before the Lord could even stand up, Zennoch hit him in the jaw with the blunt end of his spear knocking him out cold. Zennoch picked up the unconscious politician and laid him flat on the bed. "Get the elite guard in here."

After quite a bit of preperation, the plan was complete and the trap was in position. A young assassin made his way towards the two guards...This didnt make sense, they were supposed to attack in groups of two or more. Maybe this was to feel the defensive precautions out before they brought in the big boys. Zennoch turned to Alleria, "This isn't part of the plan.. Something is wrong, very wrong. They must have eyes somewhere... I hate these stealthy human bastards. Always trying to kill someone for money which they dont even spend on booze. Assassins are a disgrace."

While taking a quick swig of his booze, Zennoch glanced up at the roof.. He wondered what he would do if he was the assassin and came to a risky idea... "Could it be possible that they are going to drop in from the top of the roof, maybe by cutting a hole of some sort... The elite guard would be prepared, but if there are too many of them, we will fail this job. Can you handle this area and find out where they are watching us from while I climb up onto the roof? I know its risky, but Im just trying to think like the enemy and stay one step ahead.. What do you say?"

'Monster Dice' :

Her partner was really in a rush to finish the job. Without having to wait for the coin to land, he burst into the room and incapacitated the client with a single blow. Mr. Strauss is out for the count. After putting the client in the bed, his partner turned to her and spoke.

"Can you handle this area and find out where they are watching us from while I climb up onto the roof? I know its risky, but Im just trying to think like the enemy and stay one step ahead.. What do you say?"

"Yeah im ok with it. Im not really fond of high places anyway." Alleria had her own theory to test. She feels as if there might be an inside man working for the assassins. After his partner left her Alleria began her investigation. First she has to find out exactly how many men were protecting the politician and when had started working for him. "Hey you come here." she said pointing to one of the men in black suits. The man pointed to himself as if he wasn't sure if he was the right one. Alleria nodded at him and gestured for him to come over with her finger. "You need anything maam?" said the confused man.

"Actually, I just have some questions for you. How many are men where hired to protect Mr. Strauss." she asked the guard. The man began counting with his fingers before he spoke "Well there are nine of us, the guy who escorted you in is the head honcho and he is the closest confidant of Mr. Strauss." Alleria began to probe the guard some more "I see, and any new recruits?" The guy gave her a quick reply "Yeah, Clive. He just joined last week." She raised an eyebrow and spoke "Interesting. Could you get him for me?"

"Sure,I'll be right back." said the man and run off to get Clive leaving her alone with the two remaining guards.

Zennoch was glad to be working with a compliant teamate. He quickly ran down the hall in search of a window that could help him get to the roof. Finally he found one and began to scale the side of the castle. It was high, but he wasn't too afraid... If he fell he would die, but to fear death is to be sober and Zennoch was certainly not sober. He scaled the side of the castle with drunken vigor and true grit. He finally made it to the top, but he was a ways away from the roof that overheaded the lord's bed chambers. "God damn ninja bastards making me come up on the roof to whoop your asses... If I wasnt drunk... Well Id be doing the same thing so that I could get money in order to get drunk. This is besides the point, Im angry and I dont like many humans let alone sneaky human assassins."

Zennoch ran across the roof top and after quite a while, finally he came across some assassins who were planning on how they were going to come through the roof. Zennoch cleared his throat loudly and they turned to him, "What are you?" Zennoch replied with an angry face, "Im the guy who is going to put you out of business." All four of the assassins laughed, "Someone of your size could never keep up with us. Besides there are four of us and one of you." Zennoch took a swig of booze, "Maybe you should get a few more guys.. Up here I have the advantage, all it takes is one slip from your slimey bastard feet and its a one minute fall. My base is too strong..." They got into formation, "Alright drunk ass, lets see what you got."

'Monster Dice' :

Alleria turned to the two remaining guards and ordered them to stand by and watch by the main door. Minutes later, the man arrived with another man. He was big, not big fat but muscly big. The man had jet black hair tied into a pony tail, black generic shades and the same black suit that the guards wore. From his stride she could tell that the man was a goof fighter, probably an expert in martial arts or hand to hand combat. "So your Clive. Can you come closer and please remove your glasses, I really would appreciate it if I can see the eye of the people that im talking with." seeing the confused look on the guy's face she added in "Don't worry, I don't bite." she said adding in a wink to show that she meant no harm. The man did as he was asked, he got closer and and took of his shade then awaited for further instruction. "I heard you just recently joined the protection squad." she asked Clive. "Yes, eighth days to be exact. Why is there a problem?" the man replied. "Not really. Ok one last question." A read mark appeared on her forehead, then another much smaller one also appeared on he left eye , then she asked "Tell me honestly, are you a spy or not?" His pupils dilated, then the man entered in trance state and answered in a zombiefied tone "I am a spy." Alleria smiled and before she spoke. " See wasn't that simple. Now Clive your you are mine. !" she touched the man's face and spoke in a soft voice "Geass Magic : Subjugate!" There was a bright flash of light and Clive spoke in a tone devoid of life and will "What is your wish my lady?"

The other guard were stupefied, they had no idea that Clive was a spy, they were also shocked that such a fragile looking girl could do such a think.

Zennoch rushed forward towards the quartet of enemies; his eyes were set on the one to his far left. He thrusted his spear at the assassin only for it to be parried with a short nijato(sword). After the parry, the assasin swung his sword at Zennoch causing Zennoch to duck the slash. Two more assassins attacked him, one with a sword and another with throwing knives. The two attacks were in perfect unison, but there were still openings to which Zennoch exploited in his dodges. His atheletisiscm and drunken maneuvers impressed the assassins; Zennoch followed up with a sweep using the blunt end of his spear. The first assassin hopped over the attack, but the second managed to block it by stomping down with his foot causing the tiles on the roof to crack under the pressure. Zennoch withdrew his spear and swing it around to face the three opponents. Little did he know that the fourth assassin was coming in for an attack from the rear. The assassin was using a three pointed glaive to which he thrusted forward at Zennoch's spine. Zennoch's superiour intuition allowed him to turn around and block the glaive with the shaft of his spear. He thrusted the tip of his spear at the assassin's head, but the assassin's reflexes were quick. He moved his head to the left and then jumped like an acrobat to meet his fellow assassins. It was still four on one. "He is pretty good... We should be careful with this one, he is holding the four of us to a draw." Zennoch chuckled and arrogantly replied, "That was just the first round. I you wont be able to block me next time... Im just getting started." Offended, one of the assassins retorted, "We have something to show you as well... You wont make it out of this fight alive, and the lord wont make it through the day after you are gone."

"Be a dear and fetch your friends. I want you to lure them out, Capiche?" The now zombified Clive walked out of the room while Alleria tailed him from afar. Before she walked out of the room, he instructed the guards on duty not to let anyone in. She then continued following Clive. He went to the backroom and out to the servants entrance and continued to march outside, then he stopped, as if he was waiting for something or someone. Alleria stood by the window, cautious not to be seen by anyone. Then she held out her hand and summoned her crystal ball. Seeing that her weapon wont be enough, she decided to summon one of her contracted minions. "I summon thee Korchin!"
A purple magic circled appeared on the floor and a creature started to materialize out of thin air. A bat like creature. "You hollered?" asked the Korchin. "Yeah, I need your help. Also I need wings."

Before her minion could answer, they heard a loud yelp outside. When she looked out, she was Clive face down on the ground with a knife impaled on his back with four men standing over him. "I probably should have given him more orders. Alright Korchin, time to move." With that she crashed through the window, surprising the four assassins. Her summon flew out next "Master, you do know that the door was just a few feet away." Alleria gave him a scowl and said " Ah just shut up and give me wings. And start doing your thing!" Kochin began to glow and so did Alleria. Then a purple haze started to hover at her back, growing denser and denser, taking the shape of a wing. When it was fully formed, A pair of bat-like wings had attached to her back. "Alright guys, lets pla!"

Zennoch twirled his spear around a bit and then planted it into the ground. He used it to push off as he charged his enemies. He began by attacking the first on the left once again with a thrust of his spear... This attack once again failed to meet its mark. The assassin countered with a shallow sword slash to Zennoch's torso. Zennoch was stunned a bit and the other assassins used this chance to attack as well, "You arent talking big now are you.." Zennoch managed to block each of their attacks with the shaft of his spear. Zennoch's spearsmanship was in a league of its own and his reaction time was top notch for his experience level and rank. After having their attacks blocked, the assassins retreated a few feet. Zennoch jumped high into the air as to be directly above one of the assassins and Zennoch brought his spear's tip straight down up where his enemy was standing. The assassin managed to get out of the way but the impact shook everyone's balance a bit. He brought his spear up and with his foot kicked a tile upward. The tile lay floating at its peak before descent; Zennoch use his spears shaft as though it was a bat and hit it at the other two foes. As they dodged, Zennoch managed to catch one of them off guard. "Magical Coating: Explosive Tip Mark I!!!!" He managed to make contact with the assassin's leg and with the explosion, Zennoch blew a hole in his opponent's thigh and knock his legs backward as the assassin's forward momentum launched his face into the tiles knocking him out. The body of the assassin began to slide off of the roof and two of his comrades motioned to catch him. "NO!" The third assassin yelled, "Let him fall...He was weak."

Alleria flapped her wings making them look bigger. Withing seconds she was airborne. The assassins looked at each other then pulled out their swords. "Hiya!" was their war cry before the rushed towards her. The mage flicked her finger and high pitched noise started to resonate, curiously it disappeared just as quickly as it appeared. It was Korchin doing his thing, unknown to them they are still being continuously being attacked by a barrage of supersonic waves. The assailants resumed their attack at the girl and simultaneously they lunged at her. Alleria dodged it effortlessly. Thinking it was just a fluke, they started another attack, this time a combination move. Like a well choreographed dance, the assassins delivered blow after blow consecutive slash and thrust attacks that was elegant to the eyes. Yet no matter how much they try they cant seem to land a hit on her. "Are you done? Now its our turn." then rushed at them delivering punches left and right. Her crystal ball which orbits her delivers random sucker punches adding damage. She continued on the offensive while Korchin continued his own attack. The assassins tried their best to avoid her attacks but somehow they aren't fast enough to get out of harms way. "There is no way a girl like you can beat us! Were professional assassin, killing is what we do." said one of the badly beaten hit man. Alleria stepped on his head and said in a mocking voice "Your already bleeding to death and yet you still don't believe your eyes." She then raised her feet up and swiftly brought it down on the man's face, causing his skull to cave in. Finally they were down and out for the count.

She turn to her minion and said. "Good job korchin. Now lets take a peek at what's happening with my partner."

"Well, you assassins sure are cruel letting him die like that... Judging by that fall I do not want to be the one to find his body." One of the assassins stepped out in front of the other two and spoke, "I want to fight him one on one for a change... It might be easier if we dont have to coordinate our attacks." The assassin charged forward and began an aerial assault with punches and kicks all of which Zennoch blocked, but the real attack was the three point glaive that he had thrown in between motions. He threw it behind Zennoch, but there was a metal wire attached to it which he pulled on. The glaive's blade pierced Zennochs back downing him... He began to get up when the assassin moved in to strike once again. Zennoch saw this chance to thrust his spear, but the other assassin with the ninjato managed to jump in the way to parry Zennoch's attack. The pair jumped back and Zennoch stood up. He pulled the glaive out of his back which was still attached to the metal wire that the Assassin was using. He pulled the ninjato's metal wire attachment apart, "Well you managed to get me that time, but at least I got a cool weapon out of it." Zennoch tossed it over the side of the roof, "Or maybe I didnt." Zennoch chuckled.

Zennoch retreated backwards so that he was no longer overhead of the lords bed chambers. The assassins out of pride followed their "prey" to the exact spot where he wanted them. Zennoch smiled and pointed the tip of his spear directly downward. "Magical Coating: Penetration Tip Mark I." He thrusted his magically enhanced spear all the way through the roof which was now beginning to crack. The roof caved in and all four of them dropped into the top floor of the castle below. Zennoch oppened his eyes to see his partner not too far off.

It was a fierce battle.Part of the roof was damaged, there huge cracks spreading like spider webs on the rooftop. When she looked at the windows, she realized that it they where just above the politicians bed chambers. If it were to cave in then and there debris can fall on the unconscious Mr. Strauss and kill him or the slayers might go straight for the kill. "Snaps! Korchin lets go!" She and her minion flew towards them, but before they could reach them, the roof collapsed. Fortunately is wasnt where the bedchamber was, Zennoch lured them a few steps away before he used his magic to cause the floor to cave in. Korchin and Alleria hovered on the huge hole and looked down. Zennoch and the three assasins lay sprawled on top of the chucks and pieces from the roof. One unlucky fellow landed on a broken beam and it peirced trough his body. The rest were all bloodied, including her partner.

The guards standing by the door rushed over to investigate while Alleria and Korchin flew down. With only two badly injured killers to worry of, she let Korchin and the bungling guards to stand by and watch while she carried Zennoch to safety. Is a good thing she can fly for the moment of this would be a cumbersome task. Imagine a little girl carrying a seven feet grown man. She carried him over to the politicians bed chamber and gently placed him down. He was bleeding yet she doesnt know where its coming from. She got reached for the nearby drawer to look for anything she can use to clear off some of the blood. No good, it was full of documents. Second drawer, jackpot. It was filled with linen,blankets and pillow cases. She grabbed some and started wiping th blood off. No wound but blood was still dripping. She tipped him over and say the puncture wound which was causing the bleeding. She was no medic but she new she had to get ti to stop bleeding. So she gently wiped the excess blood away first. Then she opened her hand and a purple haze started to accumulate. She then placed her hand over the wound. The blood stopped flowing out and his began to close till a scab appeared over it.

Meanwhile outside, the two assailants where starting to stir so Korchin called for her master. "Hey boss, you better get out. I think they're waking up."

Zennoch was lucky to kill one of the assassins by collapsing the roof, but at the same time he was incredibly injured. His partner was able to transport him via flight, lay him down, and stop his bleeding. "Thank you so much human.. I owe you my gratitude friend. I am in your debt." Her slave called to her telling her the enemies were getting up, "Wait! I have information on their abilities.. They are extremely agile, the two that are alive use throwing knives and a ninjato(sword). The man with the ninjato is the more troublesome of the two, he is an expert at countering after parrys. They are skilled alone, but they can work in unison. Also do not underestimate them or you might get a glaive to your back, and mind you that glaives are painful when they pierce your skin even for a non-human like me."

Zennoch watched Alleria go off to face the enemy. He looked over to make sure the politician beside him was okay and it looked like he hadn't moved which was probably the case. He wanted to make the assassins pay himself for messing him up so he motioned over to one of the elite guards, "I want you to sit me up please and hand me my spear." The guard sat him up on the bed and gave him the spear. Zennoch proceeded to aim at the enemy past Alleria on the right side. With all of his strength he threw it; it stuck into the enemy's gut and caused him to collapse and bleed out. "Finally I hit that bastard!" Zennoch fell back onto the bed and shut his eyes while briefly grinning. He pulled out some booze from his silver glitter pants and took a swig before putting it back in his pants.

"Swoosh!" can the sound of the speeding spear as it sped right past her and hit the hit man on the stomach. "What the heck? Did he just threw a spear right past me? What is he missed?" She turned around and gave her partner her signature death glare. The man however was oblivious as he just grabbed his beer and chugged it down like nothing happen. "Piff, not worth having frown lines and wrinkles over." She had never seen anyone with such recklessness in her entire life. Looking at the collapsed roof, the fallen stone and wood that lay scattered on the red carpet of the castle's hallway, she was already thinking they might not be getting any pay at all because of the destruction they had caused, correction the destruction that her partner had caused.

She walked over to Zennoch and gave a light punch on his noggin "Good going! You managed to do more damage than the assassins could ever had done, the reward money will barely be enough to cover for the cost of the repair." Then she sighed and added "Well at any consolation, Mr. Strauss is still alive which is the whole point of all this." She then fell down to the bed right next to the sleeping politician, she looked at his sleeping form and said "You know, even if we manage to ward off all of today's assailants, another batch would just come then another then another. I wonder what this man did to garner so many enemies?" There was definitely a root cause to all of Mr. Strauss problem but that's not their problem for today.
