The Pixie Express | Job | Cleona Collins

After causing mayhem at the banquet in Era, Cleona spent the night toward Clover Town where she planned to take the train toward her guild hall. She was somewhat paranoid given that she was carrying a bunch of letters belonging to the Royal Family, which she stole from their official messenger after murdering him in a Clover Town tavern. Yup, just a regular day in the life of a killer, anarchist pixie. Anyway, she felt worried that she was being followed or at least assumed to be suspicious, especially after considering she practically one of Fiore’s most wanted (a fact that made her swell up with pride).

To help with the safety, Cleona resorted a course of action more cowardly than she would like to admit: she entered the town in the dead of night. The town was big and thus still pretty active, but it gave her some protection. She even opted out of flying and instead walked to her destination with the town. She hated walking; it was so slow, but she was much less noticeable. After all, a pixie with a bag full of letters flying around was bound to get noticed, even in a town as weird as Clover Town.

The first step in escaping toward the guild hall was finding Alphonso the Snake. Alphonso was the Basilisk Fang informant who had told the guild of the messenger. He had even informed Cleona of the messenger’s exact location. The pixie had a liking for the man, considering he didn’t seem to care or even notice that Cleona was a pixie. Hopefully, he would be able to help get her back to the guild hall and into safety. He seemed, after all, like a man who had a wide array of knowledge and connections. Then again, he could just be a bum who happened to know too much. No one might ever know for sure.

Cleona headed toward where she last met the man: the tavern that she had murdered the messenger at. She approached it, careful to avoid being stepped on, and found Rune Knights all over the place. They were frantically trying to keep people out of the area after having discovered a body, the same body of the messenger. The pixie nearly nodded her head in pity, wondering why it was only then that they had discovered the body. She figured the stench of blood would have given it away sooner.

Cleona didn’t know Alphonso very well, but she could at least guess that he wasn’t in the tavern very well (or even the area) since he didn’t seem like the type of person who enjoyed the company of Rune Knights. The pixie simply sighed and rested next to a trashcan until she could figure out what to do. Sadly, she was regretting going to the banquet for mere fun. She was tired, cold, and just wanted to go back home and rest at the guild hall. Her little hole in the wall might have sucked, but it beat sitting in a cold street waiting to get arrested by a Rune Knight.

Speaking of the devils…

“Hey, you!”

Cleona craned her head to see a Rune Knight pointing at her. Figures, a pixie would be the first target given that one was seen at the crime scene earlier in the day. Cleona jumped up and fluttered her wings. Just as the group of Rune Knights had gotten to her, she was up in the air and flying over rooftops. She went through windows, past carriages, and any other spot for good measure. Certainly, the Rune Knights could not keep up with her.

Cleona landed in an alley way and sat atop a garbage can. She figured it would be a good spot to hide. She wasn’t as afraid of the Rune Knights as she was of the mage guild that inhabited the town: Blue Pegasus. The pixie could handle the ignorant grunts in aqua-blue armor but the blue Greek-like mages would be a whole other problem. Given that fact, Cleona devised the simple of just staying out of site until she could make her way to the train station. The idea was that she could simply ride on the back of the train and none would be the wiser.

A shadow enveloped Cleona and she craned her head up to see a robed figure, none other than Alphonso the snake.

“My, you’re easy to find, my dear.”

Cleona didn’t want to guess how the man found her, whether it be through word of mouth or some sort of tracker, and simply sighed, “Jeez, that’s creepy… I don’t suppose you’re here to help are you?”

The haughty pixie crossed her arms, refusing to look like a beaten dog in need of assistance but rather an arrogant woman with too much pride for her own good.

Alphonso smiled wickedly from under the dark hood he bore. He held out his hand and showed her a tiny, pink ticket: a train ticket!

“Of course I am.”

Cleona cautiously plucked the train ticket from his pale hand and that was that; the man simply turned around and walked out of the alley.

“Creepy…”

The pixie cringed but tried not to fuss at his abrupt departure out of gratitude for the help. With a flimsy grasp, she placed the ticket into the bag that she was carrying the letters with and began flying for the train station. That ended immediately, of course, when she saw that the Rune Knights were using light spells to spot anything in the air. Reluctantly, she retunred to the ground and began the painful process of walking to her destination. As much as it sucked being small, Cleona had to admit she loved being a pixie for the wings alone. Besides, she looked like a fool dragging around a knapsack nearly the same size. Not to mention, it was difficult hiding from the Rune Knights when her footpace was so slow. Thankfully, it only took a few hours before the train station was within her sight.

Cleona arrived at the train station and, thankfully, it was rather quiet. No one seemed to mind a pixie entering the station and the man who took her tickets surely didn’t ask questions, though he did give her a strange look (as anyone in his or her right mind would). After she was given the okay, Cleona headed to the bay and saw upon a bench in wait for the train to arrive. As she was when she first entered the town, she was paranoid at the idea of a bunch of Rune Knights or Blue Pegasus mages showing up.

Within a few minutes, Cleona looked over to a distant bench where a mother and her daughter sat. The little girl looked so tired, laying her little head on her mother’s lap. It looked so comfortable and warming compared to Cleona’s situation. It made her wonder what her own mother was doing at the moment; the older pixie was probably enjoying a nice, warm meal with Cleona’s siblings or enjoying the soothing sight of Seven’s forests. For a brief moment, Cleona had regretted ever leaving home. That moment, again, was but brief. As soon as she turned her head to look down on her sack of stolen letters, she was reminded that there was no going back.
